DescriptionThe grandson of William McCloskey identified this young woman wearing a dress of delicate lace as the stepdaughter of a celebrated dancer in Los Angeles during the era named Lena Vasquez. McCloskey lived in downtown Los Angeles by himself at this time, as he had separated from his wife Alberta. Most of the portraits he made at the time were of people he knew who consented to pose for him, rather than paid commissions. Apparently he met many of his portrait subjects at the Egan School of Music and Drama. On View
