DescriptionOrchid, The King Fragrance is a watercolor on paper painting by Taiwanese artist Huang Chung-Yang. All his life, Huang Chung-Yang has been fascinated by brushes and inks in connection with carving and calligraphy. Mr. Huang's courtesy name is Ting Zhu Shan Ren or "Mountain Man Listening to Bamboo." His paintings focus on pine, bamboo, plum blossoms and chrysanthemums. He has followed the style of Song, Yuan and Ming masters but with expression of his own. He especially likes to express the wind and rain going through bamboo. His philosophy is "to paint a character and write a painting" which expresses the combination of nature and creation, the past and the present. On View
