DescriptionThis object is a gilded silver vase made during the Tang dynasty (618-907). The graceful floral pattern of pomegranate flowers and vines owes its origin to western silverware brought to China along the Silk Road. During the Tang dynasty, Chinese craftsmen elaborated on these patterns to create intricate designs like this. The ogival panels at the foot of the vase may point to a later date than the Tang.On View
