DescriptionThe wild bray of this ceramic camel makes this a characteristic Tang dynasty tomb figurine. What is unusual here is that the human rider has not been reduced in relative size. Normally the rider was scaled down to make the animal more imposing. The plumpness of the woman reflects the ideal of beauty in the mid-Tang dynasty.
