DescriptionThe red of this meiping vase is comes from a copper oxide glaze fired at a high temperature in a reduction firing. Copper-red ware first appeared in the Tang dynasty, but it was not until the Yongle (1403-1424) and Xuande (1426-1435) reigns of the Ming dynasty that ceramicists could create consistently homogenous red glazes like this.On View
