DescriptionBasket tray - coiled foundation of three willow splints, sewing of white willow; design seven pointed star or blossom surrounded by two similar blossoms of nine petals or points each, done in peeled martynia pods. Made by Apache Indians.Card 2 WESTERN APACHE; SHALLOW BOWL OR TRAY: Coiled; foundation of willow with cottonwood and devil's claw stitching. The central design, surrounded by diamonds around the rim, is a variant of the sun motif. A black center start is one characteristic of Apache baskets.
