DescriptionA coiled basket constructed of a tule foundation with stitches in willow and devil's claw. typical braided rim. The design depicts the "turtle back" a traditional motif, seen by observing the concentric rectangle forms. The shallow bowl-shaped trays were rectangle forms. The shallow bowl-shaped trays were sometimes called wheat baskets because of their use in winnowing the grain or for catching the ground wheat which whould be made into pinole or into tortillas.On View
