DescriptionGeorge Gibson, a Scottish immigrant, is known for having representational depictions of California landscapes. Gibson continued his art education after moving to Los Angeles and went on to exhibit his watercolors after serving in the Second World War. Along with watercolor, Gibson worked as an artist for the motion picture industry by creating storyboard illustrations. Eventually he became the head of the scenic art department at M.G.M. Studios. Gibson’s usage of realism puts him off from other California watercolorists as he would depict scenes using bold colors as is exemplified in his Road to Paso. Traditionally, watercolor paintings mainly appear transparent while the only portion of this painting transparent would be the blue sky.On View
