DescriptionMaya polychrome tripod vessel, Honduras. Cylindrical with rim slightly wider. Three bulbous feet. Polychrome colors, black, red, and orange on a pale orange base, with bands of horizontal and vertical lines at top and bottom. Iconography of mid-section consists of a procession of twelve anthropomorphic standing figures wearing feathered headdress. Each figure alternates in color from red to black; a plain square of orange color separates the twelve figures into two groups of six. Inside is decorated with double vertical bands of alternating bands of black and brown. Each tripod foot is surrounded on bottom by bands and radiating fingers of brown and black.On View
