DescriptionThis double jade bowl has a crouching dragon at one end and a phoenix at the other. In Chinese mythology, the dragon rules over all animals and the phoenix over all birds. The two often represent the emperor and empress. In the middle facing each other are a pair of bats. The Chinese word for bat, "fu", is a homonym for "good fortune".
