DescriptionBasket - conical; twined; foundation; roots of cedar; sewing of squaw grass and bark of Red Bud tree. Made by Shasta tribe, Hat Creek Indians; live on branch Pit River, northeastern Calif. (Most war-like of all in that territory and most dreaded by timid aborigines of Sacramento Valley.) Height 8" Diam. of base 6.75" Diam. rim 12" (Rim broken in two places.)
