DescriptionBiblical print titled "La Cene". Translated from French into English it means “The Last Supper". The caption in the lower left, "Raphael pinx." indicates that the print is based on a painting by Raphael. Indeed, this is based on Raphael's 1519 fresco in the Raphael Loggia in Palazzi Pontifici, Vatican, "The Last Supper." Vastly different than Leonardo da Vinci's fresco of the same scene, this painting also depicts Christ and his apostles after he has told them that one of them will betray him before the end of the day. The other information on the print seems to indicate that "Audot" was the editor or publisher of the print, and "Loges. 52" may have have been the name for the work the print was originally included in as well as its plate number. On View
