DescriptionLuxuries brought from the Silk Road, represented by this camel and rider, were well represented in funerary sculptures. The camels used on the Silk Road were the two-humped Bactrian type, shown here braying in a lively manner. The rider, perched precariously without the usual saddle, may represent a Central Asian merchant.
