DescriptionOne of the most well known Southern California Impressionists is Edgar Payne, who organized the Laguna Beach Art Association in 1918. Most of his paintings are a variant of one of three main subjects: boldly brushed mountainscapes (usually of the Sierras or the Alps) or seascapes, colorful European fishing villages and boats, and Southwestern desert buttes and canyons.
