DescriptionThis brochure advertises the town of Ramona located in San Diego County, California. Referred to as the "Golden Valley of Little Ranches," the city itself was named after the 1884 Helen Hunt Jackson novel "Ramona" which was said to be set in San Diego just after the Mexican-American War. Such was the popularity of the novel that it stirred a national interest and caused tourists to flock to the region to experience the romanticized lands of Southern California. The town took its name in 1886, two years after the novel's release, to capitalize on the popularity and establish itself as a tourism destination.
