DescriptionThis custom printed photograph postcard depicts six women and a man preparing to drive in two early automobiles, c. 1905. The automobiles appear to resemble REO Model Bs, which were made between 1905 and 1907. The image is captioned: "Some of the first cars in Santa Ana - on road to Orange Co Park. Ruth Taylor early day milliner a passenger." Another photograph from this collection indicates the man in the photo is named Abe Hendricks.Orange County Park, now known as Irvine Regional Park, was and still is a popular day destination for picnicing and enjoying nature. The caption indicates these automobiles have made the approximately 8-mile trip from Santa Ana to the park much more feasible.
