DescriptionConical basket made by the Washoe culture of the Great Basin region. This burden basket is made of sumac and leather using a close twining method. It is conical in shape with a piece of leather covering the bottom. There are 7 chevron bands at different angles. According to the donor, the basket was made by Susie Jackson, a Washoe woman who lived near Lake Tahoe from the 1870s-1930s.
