DescriptionFor Years, Frank Cuprien was a recognizable figure in Laguna Beach with his gray, "Van Dyke" beard, his costume of knickers, puttee and belted jacket, and his colorful personality. He specialized in painting views of the Pacific Ocean as seen from or near his studio named "The Viking." These marine portrayals range from beautiful, opalescent sunsets to moonlight views, and from placid and serene evenings to storm-troubled surf. "Radiance of the Night", a large work, shows a relatively calm surf highlighted by the cool tones of moonlight.
