DescriptionLongquan celadon is characterized by the subtle coloring that made it world famous. While it has a long history, beginning in the 3rd century, it is only in the Southern Song dynasty that this opaque bluish-green glaze, made mostly from wood ash, was perfected. Longquan celadon is one of the five famous celadons of the Song; the other distinct styles are Ru, Ding, Guan, and Jun. An intricate Chrysanthemum flower design adorns the center of this bowl.On View
