DescriptionIn many of his figurative works, such as Dos mujeres sentadas, Zúñiga explores the techniques of figural representation in Western art, alluding to the classical compositions of Western works. Many of his prints depicting figures, including Dos mujeres sentadas, additionally examine the bonds and sense of unity that exist in relationships between women. In particular, Zúñiga’s prints of Mexican women, which typically feature female figures arranged in pyramidal compositions, are meant to both illustrate the forceful and commanding strength of matriarchs and examine the archetype of the southeastern Mexican woman. On View
