DescriptionRaúl Anguiano was a Mexican-born painter and muralist who led an artistic career that took him around the globe. Sketched with red chalk (sanguine), this portrait is a nod to Graciela Iturbide’s Our Lady of the Iguanas (1979). Anguiano developed a strong connection with Southern California, where he had a second home, taught, and painted murals at Bowers Museum (1999–2000) and several other important cultural institutions. On View
