DescriptionMuralist Raúl Anguiano was born in Guadalajara. Along with his iconic work with murals, Anguiano expanded his sphere of creativity with lithographs, sculptures and ceramics. The artist was a founding member of the famed Taller De Grafica Popular in 1937, a movement that promoted social and political causes in Mexico City. Raúl was also a member of the distinguished Academia de Artes de Mexico where he taught. Influenced by the works of muralists Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siquieros, Anguiano began to create revolutionary political murals in 1936 but subsequently moved toward portraiture and mythic, picturesque, and indigenous themes in his later works.
