DescriptionGlobe made in 1855 that was given to Thomas J. Scully in 1875. He instructed in the Yorba School in the one room school near the Yorba bridge from 1855-57. During that time he taught for three months at Yorba, and taught in the San Juan Capistrano School district for three months. At this time his salary was $75. Scully was trained to teach in his native Ireland before migrating to California in 1855. He is considered to be the first teacher in Orange County.The Temple and Workman Bank was founded c. 1870 and is considered the first banking institution in Los Angeles. The bank went bankrupt and closed its doors in 1876.
