DescriptionStanding female figure with abbreviated arms and finely sculpted body of rare mastery of proportions. The body is executed at a sculptural level far above the typical solid figure. The head is rendered in a similar careful modeling of head proportions and features consistent with the body. The features are not "coffee bean" appliques with slits, but are sculpted. The, head, headress, and arm styles indicate a Western Mexican pre-classic origin form a period prior to the divergence of Colima and other Western Mexican regional styles. The pierced ears may indicate use as a pendant. The waist area break is restored. Buff terra cotta, pigment traces. On View
