DescriptionThis object is one of a pair of bronze wine vessels, called Hu, made during the Eastern Zhou dynasty. Embellished with thin, braided designs, this pear–shaped vessel was used to hold and dispense wine. The handles on opposite sides of the vessel are decorated with dogs holding rings in their mouths. The use of molds allowed foundries to produce mass quantities of identical bronzes.On View
