DescriptionThis object is a ritual wine vessel, called Lei, made in the Eastern Zhou dynasty. During this period, beautiful patterns and shapes could be found on textiles, pottery, and lacquer ware and likely influenced the inlay patterns incorporated into bronze vessels and sculptures. The process of fitting strips of metal within metal and polishing to a lustrous surface took a great amount of time but produced exquisite results. On View
