DescriptionPair of green satin sleeve facings embroidered with a large section of butterfly and floral design and a thinner band of similar embroidery 6 inches below. Main colors used are blue, black, green and white. Not lined. Pieces sewn together.From Vollmer appraisal: A pair of sleeve facings from the Han, Chinese culture dating to 1870-1890. Made of light green silk satin embroidered with colored silk floss. The design is of densely-worked butterflies at one end and single butterfly at other. It is unused and typical of period and type. The style of work is associated with Canton region. This type of object is found frequently in museums.
