DescriptionThe textiles of the Miao in Southwest China are appreciated for their exuberant, decorative qualities. Embroidered elements of textiles or panels are often reused in various different textiles or ensembles. The bright colors used on this panel suggest that synthetically dyed thread was used, meaning that the embroidery was created in the latter portion of the 20th Century. This panel may or may not be made by the Miao culture. The design motifs, specifically the dragons, and use of silk suggest a Han Chinese influence. On View
