DescriptionThis is one of a pair of Armlets used as a dance ornament. The Armlets are formed of wicker that is plated alternately with black and white splints to form a positive-negative diamond design around the outside surface of the Armlet. The inside surface is exclusively of blackened plating material. There is an ornamental grouping of husked nuts and seed beads which have multi-colored parrot and other bird feathers tied to the ends of the strings of beads. This assemblage is tied with white cotton string to the wicker armbands. The husked nuts have a red, powdered paint or dye lightly spread on them which gives a slight coloration to the binding cotton strings. There is a mount for the armbands. On View
