DescriptionEleanor was the McCloskey’s daughter and the model for innumerable works of art. She often posed for the artists, who also sometimes had professionals take preparatory photographs of her in order to shorten her sitting time. While many of the paintings of Eleanor were destined for grand exhibitions in New York, Paris, or London, this small painting, while masterful, appears to be a heartfelt and loving study by William McCloskey of his little girl.On View
