DescriptionArnlet in the shape of a coiled gold serpent, head etched, imitation ruby jeweled eyes and emerald stone, fangs exposed. Small chain 2.5" length attached. Worn by Madame Modjeska in her role as "Cleopatra" and given by her to the late Mr. and Mrs. James S. Rice, parents of James Willis Rice, parents of James Willis Rice. From the electric lighting to the costuming made in Paris to “historical specifications,” the expenses for the Polish debut of Antony and Cleopatra were enormous. The production was given unfavorable reviews by the critics, but they did not hurt Modjeska’s reputation as an actress.On View
