DescriptionSculptor - Abraham Pov. Born 1927, Port Harrison, Quebec. The Inuit people, at the behest of the Canadian government, began producing handicrafts as an income source in the 1950s. It was in this time that the Inuits were forced out of their traditionally loosely-organized nomadic lifestyle into one of acculturation and sedentariness. Abraham Pov was one of the pioneers of the emerging modern Inuit art scene.
