DescriptionWilliam McCloskey’s technical abilities were at their height when he created this still life of overripe strawberries tumbling out of a basket onto a shiny tabletop. The crumpled tissue paper is expertly painted, showing the artist’s skill at rendering various forms and textures. The composition is complex. The handle of the basket reveals that the basket is slightly angled away from the viewer, but the fruit spills out squarely into the viewer’s space, lending dynamism to the overall painting.
