DescriptionCeremonial Food Bowl or plate. Melanesian culture, Papua New Guinea. 20th century. Wood. The bowl is decorated using both incising and excising. The sides of the bowl are decorated with a series of incised conjoined spirals. The bottom is decorated with a large four pointed star- pattern with a notched disc at the center. Other design motifs include a series of serrated lozenge-shaped elements.On View
