DescriptionDon José Antonio Carrillo, son-in-law of Don José Sepúlveda, served as Secretary of State during the final governorship of California under Mexican rule. After the American conquest, Carrillo remained highly respected: he signed the Treaty of Cahuenga, which ended the war, and later served as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention in Monterey in 1849.
