DescriptionThis object, called a Temes Nevinbur, is a dance staff held during initiation ceremonies, and it comes from Vanuatu's Malekula Island. The central part of this mythological religious figure is made from a branch; the features are molded from a fiber-clay substance. Pigments used in decoration are yellow, white and black.
