DescriptionThis wooden staff was made by an unspecified African culture. Although the design of the figure at its top is quite simple, the style of the hair and facial features suggest it may have been made by the Luba people of the Democratic Rebpublic of the Congo. Throughout much of Africa, staffs are used as prestige objects either on ceremonial occasions or in daily life.
