DescriptionPhil Paradise studied art with F. Tolles Chamberlin, Rico Lebrun and Leon Droll after graduating from high school. Paradise gained national recognition as a prominent watercolorist after 1928. He constantly explored new subject matter in his works. In the late 1920s and 1930s, he worked in a regional style while in the mid-1940s he changed his style to fit matter from living in Mexico and Central America. Along with watercolor, he worked with metal sculptures, serigraph prints, pottery and ceramic murals. His 1934 painting, Ocean Estuary, resembles some of his early watercolor work showing a regional landscape. On View
