DescriptionA headdress collected from the Hela Province of Papua New Guinea and dates back from the mid to late 20th Century. Large shaped headdress made out of dark brown human hair. This headdress is circular in shape with a flat top and gradually gets narrower towards the bottom. The shape is similar to a policeman's hat without the bill. There is a yellow knit cap along the interior and an adjustable string strap on the outside along the edge. The headdress is noted to probably originate from the Huli culture; but information is needed to confirm. On View
