DescriptionBlack and white portrait photograph of an Apache warrior. It was taken at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and dates to 1858. He is looking off to the side and down. A beaded strand of light colored discs, feathers and a fur tail is attached to his hair. He is also wearing a pectoral ornament consisting of three columns of cylindrical beads. The blanket around his shoulder is embroidered (can be seen at bottom of picture). He is holding a stick-like tool in his proper left hand. This photograph is mounted onto an orange board with the photographer's name, W.S. Soule, and location, Fort. Sills, printed on the back.On View
