DescriptionBlack and white portrait photograph of the son of Apache Chief Pacer. Pacer was a Chief of Apache and possibly Kiowa peoples. The photo was taken at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and dates to 1858. He is looking off to the side. There are feathers, beaded strands and a fur tail hanging from his hair. He is also wearing a pectoral ornament consisting of four columns of cylindrical light colored beads. The pattern on his shirt consists of stripes. He is also carrying an axe. This photograph is mounted onto an orange board with the photographer's name, W.S. Soule, and location, Fort. Sills, printed on the back.
