DescriptionSculpture, late Classic peiod, Maya culture, El Quiche (K'iche), Guatemala. Polychrome urn or incense cover depicting bearded individual with foliated headdress, leaf ear decoration, cross-hatched chest ornament, and hands on abdomen. Painted in green, blue, red and white. Subject is possibly wearing of the skin of a sacrificial victim, which was associated with Spring renewal rites.
