DescriptionThis photograph depicts two men standing next to farming equipment in a field of lima beans on Jeffrey Ranch. The name Jeffrey Ranch refers to a section of Irvine Company land leased and worked for several decades by George Jeffrey, a Scottish native who moved to southern California around 1897. Jeffrey Ranch produced lima beans as well as other crops. George Jeffrey eventually won a seat on the OC Board of Supervisors and played a part in the development of the County, particularly Irvine. On View
