DescriptionThis is a stool bowl made by an unknown African culture. Unfortunately, a lack of comparable objects has made it impossible to research further, though independent of its larger cultural connections, it is an interesting study piece for its evident functions as a seat, indicated by the flat platform atop the object, and multi-cavity bowl, surmised from the five rounded depressions on the underside. While the object is zoomorphic in form, it is not clear what animal is represented, though the tail appears to be that of some reptile or amphibian. On View
