DescriptionDue to the animistic beliefs of the Lobi of Burkina Faso, many of their objects are either animistic or zoological. This wooden stool is highly stylized, but its form is clearly that of some abstracted animal featuring a long neck and tail. Lounging chairs tend to have higher backs than this example, but generally stools used by men—as indicated by this stool having only three legs—were used for relaxation, whereas women used stool to perform various seated tasks.On View
