DescriptionThe Decisions depicts Klinker’s two-scened admonition of war. The similar-but-different left and right sides give the impression of either a before and after of Justice losing to the imbalance of war or perhaps an adult game of spot the differences. Aside from the slight change in furniture to be found in the table, and the uniform which evolves from the robes and wig of a judge to a military uniform complete with bull whip, there are a number of other slighter changes. The relief in the pediment reads, “IN GOD WE TRUST” on the left and “GOD” is dropped on the right side, indicating an element of godlessness in war. The flag, standing so proudly on the left, is seen to be in tatters on the right. The exterior view from the window is a pastoral scene on the left and appears to be some variety of post-apocalyptic on the right.
