DescriptionClub heads such as the one affixed to this piece are referred to as pineapple shaped because of the rows of protruding teeth. These teeth are reminiscent of the spikes found on the body of a pineapple. Pineapple shaped club heads exist in various parts of Oceania, but those attributed to Collingwood Bay are removable and affixed to wooden clubs. Intricate cane binding is typically present on the shaft of the club just beneath the bottom portion of the head. Clubs were the primary weapons used in the Collingwood Bay and the larger Oro Province area. The stone heads made them highly effective for use in warfare. On View
