DescriptionThis is a Northern Australian throwing-club with a pineapple-shaped head—named as such because the rows of protruding teeth are reminiscent of the spikes found on pineapples. The spikes on this club are particularly rounded, but in more examples, they are sharp and sometimes even accompanied by nails. A variety of throwing club forms can be found in the region between South Australia and Queensland. These clubs—including this design—predominantly were transmitted through Papua New Guinea, where similar clubs may still be found. On View
