DescriptionThis catalog was produced in conjunction with an exhibition held at the National Museum of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia in July of 1929. This exhibition is significant as it was the first to display Australian aboriginal art in the world. The catalog features two essays, both of which use language which speaks to the idea that art and artists from non-Western traditions were primitive in nature and character. The catalog also features plates of artworks and scenery, two of which are in color.
