DescriptionThe form of this club is unusual. The crescent or fishtail shaped hook is not a feature typically seen on clubs from Vanuatu. The fact that a similar form could not be found in any collections or resources may indicate that this is either not a club at all or that it is a more recently employed form. The only comparison that can be drawn between this example and other clubs from Vanuatu is with the paddle-shaped clubs from Malekula. The paddle shape featured on these clubs is somewhat similar to the crescent hook design seen in this example. However, these clubs have more of a full paddle shape whereas this example has a great deal more of carved out space.On View
