DescriptionFood pounder from the Torricelli Mountain area, West Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea. Date to the late 19th-mid 20th century. This is a pre-contact stone carved food pounded carved out of wood. On one end, the pounder is carved into a "crab claw"-like design. The opposite end is thicker and flat.
